Winter blues
Just a photo to hopefully brighten up the cold winter, taken from the flower arrangement of gerberas in my room.
A view of Downtown Edmonton from across the river, at night, in my fathers car. (thats why its blurred, but i liked the motion of it)
We had to make a page that summed up who we are. The top part is my name stamped in Ukrainian, Then my name in english, a piano on the left side, an alto saxophone, volleyball, french horn, camera, artists palette, sheet music, a Ukrainian dancing "vinok" (a flower garland) and the word "read" on the right side.
The same bush before, during the summer, and after, during the winter and covered in snow.
So the Winter has been pretty darned cold, and I'm sure ready for it to end. We had a bit of a scare this weekend because I'm due to go on a France and Italy trip on Thursday, but then the whole thing in Libya started freaking my mom out, and she was insisting that I couldn't go, luckily she realized that it if was dangerous the school wouldn't let us go, because it would cost them way too much money if one of us died or something, so I'll most likely be going still, as long as my school doesn't decide to cancel the trip themselves. Hopefully that doesn't happen, I can't wait to get out of here for spring break, I'm ready to do something fun! and I need more pictures to scrapbook, because i have more pages planned than pictures at the moment :)

Surprises!
So I have a couple of really exciting things coming up!
1) Has something to do with the image below :) I've been creating these for a while, but they're surprises for my friends so I cant share them yet
2)I'm going to France and Italy in 2 weeks! I am so excited to go somewhere other than North America for the first time. It's a trip with my school but it will be a ton of fun! I just love the architecture in Europe, so expect a bunch of pictures when I get back.
3) I just started working on a pretty funny mini-book, which is hilarious because of how the pictures are presented. I'm only done 4 pages so far though, thats about a third of the way done?? But I'll post pictures when everything is complete! Everyone have a great day!!!

Flourishes Challenge
A new challenge from Flourishes! This is actually the first challenge I've ever taken part in so wish me luck! Guidelines are as follows:
HOW TO PLAY: To play, all you need to do is create and use a cut edge on your card– it’s just that simple! That means to use a die cut, a border punch, a corner punch or any type of decorative border! Let’s see how you create a card that is a cut above the rest! You have until March 18th at 5 PM Eastern Standard Time to get your creations linked up on the inlinkz linky below on this post. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword FLLCMAR11.
I used Martha Stewarts Pinking Scallop Punch Around the Page, The green paper is from the American Crafts A La Carte Set, The white paper is regular old cardstock the I stamped with random swirls, The inside of the flower is stamped with a studio g flower stamp and the flower itself is from Walmart. I gave the card to my mom on her birthday.
If you would like to enter you can go to The flourishes blog for more information. Good Luck!
Golden Girl
Closeup of the popped up letters
The little embellishment in the corner.
Just a page comparing myself at age 5 and now. The paper actually inspired me to do this layout, although I was aiming to complete another challenge from the "52 More Scrapbook Challenges" book by Elizabeth Kartchner. I guess i could file this one uder the challenge "using product packaging" because the whitish paper behing the word girl in my titling is actually from some basic grey stamp set packaging.

Volleyball Page
Just a little while ago, I took out a book that had about 100 scrapbook challenges in it. I wrote them all down in a list, and have been making my way through them ever since. This challenge was to base your scrapbook layout using a grid. I cut a picture of my senior volleyball team (just the grade 12's) into pieces, sewed them onto the paper using a transparency over top and made little pockets for each number by cutting through the top of the transparency. I've realized that I use a heck of a lot of sewing and thread in my layouts. Maybe its time to break this habit?
Silk flowers that i bought a bag of from Walmart. basically they were just loose flowers that had either fallen off or weren't sold, so i took all of them apart, and just have loose flowers to work with. Way cheaper than buying those paper flowers I tell you. Cost me a dollar for one of those big ziploc bags filled with assorted silk flowers. Sewed them onto the page, and stuck a black brad through the centre. You can also sort of see the transparency over to p of the photos here.
Each of the numbers stuck in its little pouch
The unfolded card thing, with journaling inside. It was actually originally a starbucks gift card holder.
