Pinterest Love

So pinterest has definitely given me some new, fabulous ideas and inspiration
For example, the page from here inspired this one

The title "maroons" is kind of an inside joke. One day at camp we were commenting on how maroon is such an ugly colour and one of the camp directors told us that back in his day "maroon" meant a loser, so of course we started to use it as well :)

The Journalling says "Before our staff party Dani and I decided to get together and scamper around in our aprons and take pictures. I'm unused to doing any portraiture because my brother hates when I take his picture, but I think this session worked out well."

Christmas Wishes

Just a list of my Christmas wishes in no particular order :)
1) Another album kit. Definitely almost completed my first album (I think I have 4 pages left to fill up) and I love the K and Company Album kits. So it's definitely something I could use.
2) The last Eragon Book. It's been out for a while and I can't wait to read it.
EDIT: my mom totally brought this home for me from Costco yesterday :) I can't wait to read it but it'll have to wait till after finals are over!

3) An Instax camera. It would bring my camera total up to three which I think is kind of foolish but I LOVE how it prints photos immediately. The film is kind of expensive but I think it's a cute idea.

4) A golden retriever puppy. This one has definitely been on my list ever since I could talk and it still has yet to come true. But I still haven't given up hope! Someday I will have my cuddly. adorable puppy!

5) A Silhouette Cameo. I used to want a Cricut but never got one because the cartridge idea annoyed me. The silhouette is a WAY better idea, and goodness gracious it would make my life so much easier. But it's kind of a wish for the future, I can't justify spending $300 on this while I'm still in school.

6) A wide angle/macro lens adapter. I tend to take a lot of macro pictures because my brother is usually the only one around and he hates when I take pictures of him. So often I have to rule portrait photography out unless I want to just take pictures of myself. Which makes this definitely something I would use all the time and it's way cheaper than buying a Macro lens.
7) A small sewing machine. The sewing machine we have is upstairs in my parents room and it is the oldest most crotchety machine I have ever used. I mostly use it for scrapbooking and with my desk in the basement I do tons of stairs. And the sewing machine hates me, the amount of paper it has eaten up, or ruined just astounds me... So I think a cheap little one would be WAY better.
8) Something I can't have, yet. Kind of a secret, but definitely the top thing on my list.

New Style

Just trying out some new things, and I like the results so far :)

I definitely never thought of just using paper as the focus of my pages. I've been following Paige Evans for the last little while and I've been totally inspired. I love how her pages focus mostly on the ways she can layer and put tons of patterned paper on one page. So I gave it a go, first page is a picture of my friend Andrea and myself in Paris on our School Europe Trip last year. The background was actually originally a city map of Paris, and I circled the places we visited. Then I put strips of paper in the spots where we didn't visit so only the red circled places were visible on the map. If i ever do a page like this again, I'm definitely changing the way I approach cutting the strips, because this was quite the learning process.

I've been wanting to use those chipboard letters for a while but was having a really tough time because they're patterned and didn't really go with any of my other pages. But I finally found a use for them and I think they look perfect on this page.

Just finished this page today and I'm actually really happy with it. I really love how I incorporated so much patterned paper, but the focus is definitely still the pictures. The page is basically about how it seems like here we have a constant winter, it usually lasts 6 months or more and this year they said it was going to be a long one. I'm usually really loving the snow on the first week but after that I just can't stand it.

Used the same chipboard letters again... love them here too.

Luckily I only had to do one try for these pictures because after this my clothes were completely soaked.

11.11.11 11:11

I've been waiting for this day for a long time. I've made my wish and I'm hoping that it comes true, but it's what I was doing at 11:11 that'll stay in my mind forever. My Nena is currently in the hospital, and she's not getting better. So we're getting ready to say goodbye. We decided to make a collage today of a bunch of the pictures we have of her. So at 11:11 I was gluing down the first picture.

Wonderful You

This has got to be one of my favorite pictures of my Nena. It just captured her perfectly. So when I wanted to make a page about her, because she's not going to be around much longer, I knew that this picture had to be the focus of the page.

Utter Fools

This page was a really crazy one to put together, I had the background paper all sprayed and ready, but that's the only part that stayed the same. The page I had planned for these pictures was terrible, It had no flow and just didn't look finished. So I left it... for two weeks the page sat on my desk, nothing glued down, nothing even really cut to fit yet. And then my mom went to Hallmark Cards and they put the cards she bought into this darling purple bag which she promptly handed to me as soon as she got home. And then the inspiration hit. I cut out the part of the bag that I really liked as a mat for my picture, then cut some borders for the page and punched them with little hearts. Then I cut out some of the white spaces in the paper and put patterned paper behind them. And then it was done, the page I struggled with for two weeks, came together in a little more than an hour. And I have to say I'm really happy with my homemade spray ink on the background paper. I haven't been able to find any to purchase yet, so when my dad gave me his old drafting ink refills, I made my own in an old body spray bottle. The only colour I have at the moment is fluorescent pink though because I only had one bottle to use. But soon there will be more. Soon.

Ran out of thickers vowels so I had to be creative with my title choice and make sure it only had "o"s in it.

The journalling reads : We may be the camp leaders, but that doesn't mran we can't still act like little kids from time to time. <3 Camp 201
