On our trip to Europe with my school we went shopping in Florence, and stopped off at the boar market. Its named after the brass/bronze statue of a boar at the front that is said if you rub its nose, you will return to Florence someday. The market is in this huge pavilion behind the boar statue and is completely crammed with all these booths and stalls. Most of them sell stuff like scarves and purses and belts, plus leather goods because Italy is renowned for its leather. Well us four decided that we would all spend a ton on scarves, and each of us bought at least 3 or 4 that day. So we nicknamed ourselves the scarf clan, because from every day afterwards, we wore our scarves.
A close up of the texturing on the backround paper. It's the type of paper with a white core, so all around the focal points i sanded it down so it appears lighter. The white flower i actually found lying on the ground in Florence :) so I brought it home.

A card I originally made with my best friend Rachel in mind, but ended up not giving to her. I'm not really sure what to do with it now... haha
closeup of the stamps. my circle isn't even because I cut it by hand :)
Cats coloured and mounted on vellum. forget what the stamps were called that I used... i threw out the paper they were mounted on :S stupid me.
a card inspired by one i saw a while ago... i forget from where. If anyone recognizes this layout and remembers where from, wanna give me a shout. I would really like to credit the original.

Busy busy...
Just a quick, very random update. I haven't had much time to make anything lately because I'm trying to just keep up with everyday life. So here is a random page i made in photoshop. It's terrible quality because I usually only make these pages as a plan, instead of for an actual digital album so I take a lot of shortcuts :) but it saves me time in the end because it makes a page easier to visualize when i can actually see the paper cut "to size" without actually having to cut it. I made this one ages ago, so i actually dont remember what materials and papers this is from.

Exciting news!
SO I have some pretty exciting things that happened to me this past week. On Saturday I was at West Ed to do a trade show with Junior Achievement. Junior Achievement is basically a world wide program where high school students are put into teams and make their own business from the very start. We have everything from a President, to a Vice president of Production (which is my job this year!) I've been involved in Junior Achievement for 4 years and I've been everything from the little worker bee who actually produces the products to President (last year).
So this year in Edmonton, Junior Achievement (JA for short) is getting a lot of attention and publicity because of how successful our companies were this year. 4 companies (including my own) had more money in share value than any company ever has before, and one of our companies (Pure Vita which sold hand sanitizer) won nearly every JA award in North America. So one of the newly instated things we got to do this year was a trade show at WEM, plus we were filmed during the trade show for a TV show which will air later this summer. Also from each company, two members were chosen to give a pitch on stage to three judges. The winner would receive a prize of a radio show on CBC later that week, and a chance to have lunch with Brett Wilson; a previous Dragon off of Dragons Den, the Canadian Business TV show.
WEEEELLLLL....... I was chosen to go up on stage with my president to pitch our product and we WON!
So this morning I had to get up really early (4am) to go to the radio station to do a live segment about our company!
So if you'd like, you can check out our radio program here under the heading Mug Shot.
One really funny thing that happened, is that since I'm so tall, and my president is so little, during our interview section on the TV show, they gave my president a box to stand on, but she could take the box with her on stage to present to the judges so the sudden height difference is pretty funny :)

France and Italy 3
A crab from the Monaco Museum Oceanographic
A street in Florence, Italy right by out hotel
Not your typical Pisa picture :)
Right outside the Vatican. Our school chaplain woke us up early enough to be there just as the sun was rising. I still haven't forgiven her for that. 4:30 am is WAY too early
This isn't the best picture but I'm too lazy to go find the other one that is, I'll get it up here sooner or later. This is in rome, looking onto the ruins by the coliseum.
The coliseum, absolutely breathtaking place to visit. Once when my mom went to Rome, she overheard a lady say that they should knock the coliseum down, and remove all the ruins because they were an "eyesore". I vehemently disagree with that statement.
The beautiful ferrari we saw in Rome. I love how the engine is visible through the back window. Thats my friend pretending to be a car model :)

France and Italy 2
The Louvre! I think the upside-down pyramid is just so cool. One thing you don't see from the movie the DaVinci Code is how cool the Louvre really is. They have an open air elevator that is basically a piece of floor that raises up to the next floor level! Coolest thing ever, but I couldn't go on it because it was for handicapped use only, and there was a guard positioned there at all times :(
The Mona Lisa, much smaller than most people think it is.
My favorite sculpture; Diana; Greek Goddess of the Hunt
Another sculpture, forget the name.
A picture of the Duomo at the Tower of Pisa. Taken through my sunglasses :) I love how the colours turned out.

France and Italy!
Back from Europe! Ill have to make a couple of posts in the next while dedicated to the trip because I took so many pictures! 1528 to be exact. I'll only be putting some of the best ones on here, but all of them are going on Facebook, and they're taking forever to upload!mI had so much fun on the trip, the people were amazing, the countries were beautiful, and we had so much fun! I did manage to twist my ankle pretty badly about halfway through the trip, but i kept through it because I didn't want to miss anything. (ill post a picture of my ankle later, its pretty funny). So here is the first set of pictures!
The Eiffel Tower during the day, we went all the way to the top!Eiffel Tower during sunset, I boosted the colours a little, just to make them stand out more.
Notre Dame Cathedral During the morning, we climbed all 400 stairs to get to the bell tower. It was such a good workout and such a beautiful view. completely worth the climb!
Proof that yes, I was there.
Winged Victory. I like this statue better from the side strangely enough.
The stairs to the top of the Arc Du Triumph.
